and Vogue's review stated "Tippi Hedren and Marilyn Monroe. Biker molls and sweater girls. You got it: Alexander McQueen went to the sixties, all the way, for fall. With its filched movie and rock 'n' roll themes, the collection read as a knowing vehicle, a McQueen director's cut. Glacially restrained tailoring, early rocker chic, the classic Hollywood ball gown moment: He had 'em all. Plus great hair, great music, and a roar of old-school glamour. But there's no such thing as a McQueen routine without a sinister psychological subtext or two. Was there a hint in the invitation—a pastiche of the film poster for Vertigo, superimposed with the title of another Hitchcock movie, The Man Who Knew Too Much? What McQueen knows shows aplenty. His combined knowledge of Savile Row tailoring and Parisian couture means he can scissor an impeccably narrow gray tweed coat or a nipped-waist pencil skirtsuit, and put sizzle into period sobriety."
I have included a runway reference photo of the dress, it was Look 21, and you can also see the dress on the catwalk at the 5:30 minute mark in the video from the catwalk presentation. It is made of a fine, high quality silk chiffon in a pale yellow whose soft romantic exterior belies a razor sharp tailoring interior that has a full built in, molded and shaped corset. Each shoulder of the dress is detailed with a delicate silk chiffon flower with a trailing silk chiffon ribbon that flows down the back. Another silk flower is placed at the waist and is attached to a ribbon of silk that circles around you and snaps into place underneath the flower. I love the soft pleating that runs over the entire dress giving it a romantic and feminine feel. The dress is unworn and still has its 2005, $2259USD price tag attached. Excellent condition.
A full silk satin dress lies under the silk chiffon exterior layer and then this is lined in yellow silk. It has a full built in corset. Both the corset and the exterior layer close with zippers. Hand finished. Original tags. Tagged an Alexander McQueen size 40
